Netlix’s ‘Big Day’-Exclusive Inside Deets from ‘Nikhita & Mukund’s’ Wedding

Launched on Valentines day, Netflix’s new series ‘The Big Day’ is all about showcasing the big fat Indian weddings in their true glamorous form. From Bishangarh to Chennai, each wedding crafted in the show is a reflection of the bride and groom’s personality.

The first episode ‘Love is in the Details’ of the OTT series The Big Day Collection 1 features the most lavish wedding of California based couple Nikhita Iyar and Mukund Chillakanti. What gives us immense pleasure is that Puneet Gupta Invitations was featured as part of this 6 episode docu-series as well.

When Nikhita and Mukund first approached us for their wedding invitation suite, they had 1 thing in mind ‘Something Never Seen Before with a touch of extravagant personalisation’. It was a no brainer for us and we instantly decided to proceed ahead with the wedding invitation and wedding stationary design. From detailed logo designing to event theme based menu cards, each detail of the wedding was discussed to the very core.

The Big Day episode featured Nikhita and Mukund enjoying and celebrating their wedding in the most luxurious way with Indian culture inspired welcome dinner, Alice in Wonderland theme Mehendi, Bollywood themed Cocktail part, a traditional day wedding followed by a Victorian Reception Dinner. The different events featured flame throwers, dreamy photobooths, Fabergé-style eggs, servers dressed in ballgowns and so on. The welcome dinner venue also boasted of the couple’s wedding logo showcased on a large projector with a large Buddha statue in front of it.

The lavish wedding celebrations of #MuksGotNiked took place at the Leela Palace, Chennai. The wedding decor and planning was done by one of our good friends and well-known industry leader, Dreamzkraft productions. The wedding was captured and clicked by Shades Photography

For Nikhita, it was not about just creating an atmosphere that they like but they were very keen on making their guests feel at home and to experience the true Indian culture. While explaining her vision for the guests, Nikhita adds- “It’s about making them happy so that they can then bring a nice camaraderie sort of feeling to the event and you can celebrate together.”

We absolutely agree with her thoughts and helped her make her wedding a truly mesmerising affair. To make it a truly, personalised wedding and to imbibe an element of the couple in each event, we were in constant touch with the couple and Dreamzkraft team.

Here are some exclusive pictures of Nikhita and Mukund’s wedding menu, wedding itinerary, key card holder and many other wedding collaterals.

How The Big Day Couple Nikhita Iyer and Mukund Chillakanti Met

The episode starts with Mukund and his relatives sharing his love story. It is truly a tale of friendship and best friends turned into soul mates. Mukund’s fraternal twin brother and Nikhita’s sister fell in love and got married. While planning their siblings wedding, Nikhita and Mukund starting spending a lot of time with each other and that is when the spark started. They started dating each other on the very first day of their siblings wedding. It was after a year of dating, Mukund decided to pop the question at a lovely family cruise. And that is how #MuksGotNiked.

All You Need to Know about Mukund and Nikhita’s Wedding Celebrations

Indiana Jones Welcome Dinner

Adding a contemporary touch to the welcome dinner, Nikhita and Mukund wanted their event to be close to their heart and something that will stay etched in their guests mind, even long after the event is over. A large size wedding menu, wedding logo glass stickers and dreamy hallway lit with more than 3000 set the right mood for the welcome dinner. With an 8-ft Buddha statue, wedding logo projected on hotel building, exotic dancers, the welcome dinner was nothing short of perfection.

Alive in Wonderland Theme Mehendi

The mehendi theme was all about the bride’s favourite movie. Inspired by the Disney movie ‘Alice in Wonderland’, the decor showcased funky hats, telephone booth, keys, clocks, tea cups etc. With artists dressed and dancing as movie inspired characters, the mehendi was a sure hit and the best mehendi celebrations one could ever see. With wedding branding, signages and branded keys, the secret garden ceremony came to an end with a big blast.

Bollywood Theme Sangeet Night

With golden entry ticket to red carpet, Bollywood ruled the sangeet night. Paparazzi and Bollywood actors lookalikes of Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bacchan, Hema Malini added to the whole showbiz of the celebrations. To get the entry to the sangeet night, a seal with couple’s logo was designed by us. Only once the golden ticket was stamped with the seal, the wedding guests could enter the venue and enjoy the paparazzi and the Bollywood madness. With Shankar Mahadevan and Terrance Lewis performance, the sangeet night felt complete.

Traditional Day Wedding

The madam was decked up with beautiful white, pink and pastel florals. Set in front of the ocean, the wedding venue was as picturesque as it could get. Pristine white with tinge of pink and grey made the wedding ceremony truly pure. On entry, the guests were given garland and wrist mogras. With Indian art form dance performances and South Indian delicacies, the wedding was a true reflection of our Indian culture.

Victorian Era Theme Reception Party

Amping up the mood even further, the wedding came to a blasting end with a Victorian Era themed reception party. Faberge eggs, servers dresses in victorian gowns, victorian visuals, the theme for the party was on point. Magnificent florals and colossal drapes further added to the couple’s reception party.

Nikhita and Mukund are as much in love as they were when they first said their “I Dos.” Like Conde Nast truly says ‘It’s not just a wedding, it’s the Big Day.’
